We went to the most amazing castle today - Dunrobin Castle. It is the most northerly of Scotlands great houses and is the largest house in the highlands.
The rooms are amazing - unfortunately no photos allowed of inside - but I bought postcards! Aparrently it was originally built in the 1200's and then added to over the centuries with big expansions in the 1600's and 1800's. The land was originally given to the Sutherland family as they raised the largest army during the uprising.
The gardens were equally amazing as the photos show. There was also a falconry display - including a golden eagle and some very large owls.
