Stockholm

Stockholm is mesmerisingly beautiful! On our first full day we had a walk around on the island of Djurgården, This park also houses the ABBA Museum, our first port of call. Was a cool walk down memory lane, seeing all the costumes that are now so famous and all the paraphernalia that the band was famous for. There were videos and songs playing in every room so I definitely got my ABBA fix!
The following day we slept in again, jet lag catching up on us but as most of Stockholm doesn’t open til 10am there wasn’t anything we missed. Gamla Stan is the original settlement of Stockholm (1252) and is one of the many islands the city is built on (14 in total). We took a walking tour around the island and heard about the evil Danes, just as we’d heard about the treacherous Swedes while we were in Denmark. The streets in this area are the original footprint and it is just amazing how little room there was and not surprisingly they were prone to fires that would spread quickly.
We also visited the Noble Museum which is located on Gamla Stan and learnt a bit about the discoveries, the history etc.
Next stop was the amazing Stockholm Cathedral (1527), also located on Gamla Stan and we saw the famous St George fighting the dragon (carving done in 1489).
We finished the day with a River Cruise
