Port Arthur

Went out to Port Arthur and saw the sights, much bigger than I expected, more like an old deserted town. Terrible conditions for convicts and pretty sweet accommodation for the senior staff. Huge Catholic Church and a small CofE one, does that mean there were more Catholic criminals???

Bruny Island

Had a full day trip to Bruny Island. What a great day, getting out on the Tasman Sea and the Southern Ocean on a powerboat for about 3 hours. Saw lots of birds, seals and amazing scenery including caves, blowholes, sheer cliffs and narrow passages. As there was a fire on Bruny Island we also saw some helicopters water bombing the bush. Got wind burn, now have a bright read forehead!

Hobart

Had a few days in and around Hobart, relaxing in our accommodation and seeing Hobart from the ground, from the top of Mt Wellington, from the revolving resturant at the Wrest Point Casino and then today from the Derwent River as we sailed aboard the Tall Ship Windeward Bound.
